June: Fire that carries us into summer…

June Journal from the Electric Lady Florals Studio
I realized that I am very late in posting my June journal, apologies!
June arrived on the heels of a full moon in Sagittarius, a moon of truth, movement, expansion, and vision. On this night of the Sagittarius full moon, I found myself in a rose garden, surrounded by women who seemed to embody the energy of the earth itself.
These women were powerful, natural, intuitive, and deeply connected to the wisdom of Mother Earth. There was a groundedness in the way they spoke, but also a fire, a sense of knowing, seeking, and becoming. The conversation moved easily between the mystical and the practical, the feminine and the masculine, the seen and the unseen.
Under the light of the Sagittarius moon, our words felt alive. We shared stories, ideas, truths, and the things we are calling into our lives. There was something beautiful about sitting together in that garden, held by roses, nature, and moonlight, speaking honestly about what we want to manifest and what we are ready to release.
Sagittarius is a sign of expansion, truth, and vision, and that evening felt like all of those things at once. It reminded me how powerful it is when women gather with intention, when we listen to one another, reflect one another, and give voice to the dreams that are beginning to take shape.
After the deep emotional shedding of spring, this full moon felt like a match being struck. A reminder that clarity does not always arrive quietly, sometimes it comes as a flash of honesty, sometimes it comes through the body, sometimes it comes through flowers, reaching, bending, opening, moving toward the light without apology.
Gemini season duality, curiosity, untamed, full of conversation…
Gemini season
As we move into June, Gemini season continues to stir the air. Gemini is the sign of conversation, curiosity, duality, and change. It reminds us that we can hold more than one truth at once. We can be soft and strong, rooted and restless, tender and electric and we can be in the middle of becoming and still be whole.
In the studio, this energy has been showing up in my arrangements: airy stems, mirrored shapes, unexpected pairings, flowers that seem to be speaking to one another. Gemini season always feels like a conversation between opposites, the wild and the refined, the fresh and the dried, the fleeting and the lasting.
This month, I am thinking about flowers as messengers, some arrive for only a moment; peonies, irises, sweet peas, eremurus, roses. They ask us to pay attention before they pass, others dry slowly and stay with us, changing form but not disappearing. This is one of the lessons I return to again and again in my work: beauty does not have to end when something changes, sometimes it becomes more interesting, more refined, more honest.
People “Where the Wild Things Are” installation
Where the Wild Things Are
A floral installation for Yvonne Najor’s Where the Wild Things Are-inspired baby shower, which was featured in People.
Designing florals for this celebration felt like stepping inside a storybook, one where motherhood, friendship, wildness, and wonder all met in the same room. The theme was nostalgic, playful, and full of life. I wanted the flowers to feel wild, textural, just out of a jungle. Congratulations Yvonne!
