This July journal is arriving a little late, though somehow that feels fitting. The month has carried a slower, more inward rhythm for me, one that has asked for patience and rest rather than urgency.
The Cancer new moon for me invited thoughts of home, belonging, and the spaces that hold us. I’ve been working on a new website, settling into a new studio space, and shaping plans for the fall. All three feel deeply connected: different ways of creating a home for the work and imagining how it might be shared.
Mercury retrograde has added its familiar pauses and revisions. Instead of pushing for everything to be finished, I’ve been returning to ideas, reconsidering details, and allowing things to take their time. There is something reassuring about remembering that not every season is meant for moving quickly. Some are for listening, rearranging, and beginning again with greater clarity.

The flowers of July have reflected this mood beautifully.
Large alliums have brought height and quiet structure, while smoke bush has softened arrangements with its hazy clouds of color.
Sunflowers have carried the unmistakable warmth of summer. Around them, I pair asparagus fern, chicory, scabiosa, lisianthus, Queen Anne’s lace, and fennel so it adds movement and delicacy, loose, airy textures that feel gathered rather than overly composed.
Leo Season arriving…

As we move into Leo season and toward the Aquarius full moon, the energy feels ready to open outward again. Leo brings warmth, creativity, and the courage to be seen, while Aquarius offers a wider view, an invitation to imagine new possibilities and more meaningful ways of connecting.
Perhaps that is where I find myself now: still tending to the quieter foundations, but beginning to look up and outward. I am making room for the studio to become a gathering place, for the website to tell a fuller story, for the floral subscriptions to bring the changing seasons into other people’s homes or businesses and for larger botanical installations to unfold in unexpected places.
